I thought we were ready for a good day but the boys massively exceeded expectations. Cross Country Team Wins Shepherd Blue Jay Invitational The cross country teams traveled to Shepherd for the annual Blue Jay invitational for the biggest challenge of the season. The 27 team field included the top 3 teams in Division 3 as well as 3 of the top 10 in Division one teams. Sophomore Lennox Naswell remained undefeated on the season. Naswell's time of 15:13.78 put him less than 1 second away from Luke Walker's school record of 15:12.95 that was set in 2003. This was over a 20 second personal best for Naswell who has continued to improve his performances as the competition has gotten tougher. Bryce Gross ran his best race of the season and finished in 13th. Senior Tommy Bieter has the break out performances of the day and ran a personal best time of 16:06.64 to take 23rd overall. He was closely followed by Sophomore Ryan Rathsburg in 29th also running a personal best time of 16:15.37. Senior Caleb Carignan completed the scoring for the Chargers with a 45th place finish in 16:24.68. The Chargers finished with a score of 109. Grand Ledge was second with 154. The Chargers combined for a team time of 79:47.06 which is the fastest ever performance by a Powers team as well as the fastest performance by any team in the state of Michigan this year. First up is the Greater Flint Championships on Saturday the 4th. Which will be a the Genesee County Fairgrounds.
