🏆 FINAL SCORE ⚽ Powers 2 – Grand Blanc 1 ⚽ 🔥The Chargers stepped onto the pitch last night determined to capture the SVL League Title—a trophy that has often felt just out of reach in the highly competitive conference. Standing in their way were cross-town rivals, the Grand Blanc Bobcats, winners of the SVL for the past three years. For senior captains Logan Johnson and Grant Roberts, it was their final chance to finally beat Grand Blanc after four years of varsity battles—and this time, they got it done. What a win for the team, the program, and the school! The match was intense from the opening whistle. Just four minutes in, Grand Blanc was awarded a penalty kick and converted to take a 1–0 lead. From there, both defenses dug in, turning the game into a physical, back-and-forth battle. Late in the first half, senior captain Reagan Cameron drilled a deep free kick into the net to tie it at 1–1 heading into halftime. The Chargers came out strong in the second half, pressing the Bobcats hard. Their persistence paid off when Logan Johnson launched a long throw-in deep in Grand Blanc’s end, where his brother, junior Colin Johnson, hammered home the go-ahead goal. Powers took a 2–1 lead with 32 minutes still to play—and that’s when the defense went to work. Grand Blanc threw everything forward in search of the equalizer, but the Powers backline stood tall. Junior goalkeeper Eli Sturgess, along with defenders Grant Roberts, Aiden Walsh, Colin Johnson, and Jake Ferguson, turned away every Bobcat attack to lock down the victory and the championship. This was truly a complete team effort from start to finish. The Chargers dug deep against their rivals—many of whom are also longtime friends and travel soccer teammates. It’s a game this team, and this school, won’t forget anytime soon. Way to go, Chargers!!
