Cross Country Finishes as Saginaw Valley Runner Ups. In an incredibly close finish the men’s cross country team was tied 32-32 with rival midland high after the 1st 5 runners. In cross country the tie breaker is who has the higher placing 6th runner. Which was awarded to Midland. Lennox Naswell continued his epic streak by taking the individual conference title. Naswell is the 3rd Charger to be individual Saginaw Valley Champion in Cross Country. He joined current teammate Byrce Gross who was conference champion in 2024 and Chandler Lorf who took the crown in 2017. This was the 5th time in the last decade that the Chargers have finished second in the powerful Saginaw Valley Conference. The chargers were also runners up in 2017, 2018, 2023 and 2024 along with 3rd place finished in 2020 and 2016. Senior Bryce Gross was 2nd in the conference and Senior Tommy Bieter finished 6th overall. Naswell, Gross and Bieter all earned 1st team all conference honors. Ryan Rathsburg and Caleb Carignan finished 10th and 11th overall to earn 2nd team all Valley Honors. The women’s team was led by senior Chloe Wood in 56th overall. The Chargers will refocus to get ready for the regional championships on October 24th at Shepherd High School where they will seek a place in the state finals on November 1st.
