This one hurts!! Powers 1 – Frankenmuth 2 The district championship game didn’t go Powers’ way. It was a tough loss, but our boys should be proud of everything they accomplished this season. The match, played on Frankenmuth’s home field, proved challenging. The compact field and turf surface created a fast, congested style of play with quick counter attacks that kept both defenses busy throughout. Powers struck first midway through the opening half with a goal by junior Jake Ferguson. The Chargers created several other excellent chances, but Frankenmuth’s goalkeeper came up big, denying each attempt. The Eagles capitalized late in the half, converting on a free kick opportunity to tie the game just before halftime. Frankenmuth came out pressing in the second half and eventually broke through 23 minutes in, scoring on a header off another free kick from just outside the box. Powers fought back with determination, senior captains Grant Roberts, Reagan Cameron and Logan Johnson led this team like true warriors, but it wasn’t meant to be. Our season ends here—but what a great one it has been! A special thank you to Coach Paul Stravato and the entire coaching staff for their outstanding leadership. This team has been incredible. Best of luck to our seniors as they move on, and to the returning players as they prepare for next year. Go Chargers!
